carnival lick

It isn’t helpful
when lovers wear masks.
It is as a carnival
in camouflage takes place
among the sheets

soiled clothes seep out
their chagrined perfumes
how they’ve been
dropped the night before

intoxicated disguises
stir, sugared candy
or chocolate
entice the tongue
filling the stomach

with aphrodisiac
an instant captured
in Casanova time
or a Ferris wheel
shadows its turnabout.
